Three towns, one unhurried loop
Transylvania’s towns make useful anchors for a road trip. Rather than trying to see everything in one day, choose a base or two and leave time to walk. The route works in either direction; adapt the order to your arrival point and the time you have.
Start in Brașov
Explore the historic centre on foot, then use the city as a starting point for the surrounding mountains. If you plan to visit a popular nearby landmark, check its opening information and parking arrangements before setting out.
Continue towards Sibiu
Allow time for the drive as well as the destination. Sibiu’s old town is best appreciated on foot; consider parking outside the most constrained central streets and walking in. Small settlements along the way invite a gentler pace, but stop only where parking is permitted and safe.
Make your way to Sighișoara
The hilltop historic centre is a natural walking stop. Comfortable shoes are useful on uneven surfaces. From here you can return towards Brașov or continue your own route through the region.
Before you go
Check accommodation and attraction access directly, especially outside the main travel season. For a broader perspective on responsible travel, explore UN Tourism’s resources. Carry a flexible plan rather than treating each stop as a deadline.
